Rules
• Runners have 36 hours to complete the Hardmoors Ultra Race. Starting at Helmsley and finishing at Filey. You must pass through ALL the checkpoints within the stated time limits.
• You must carry ALL items marked as mandatory from the equipment list (below).
• Checks will be made at registration and you will not be permitted to compete without the mandatory items.
• Any runner who is (in the opinion of the race directors, marshalls or medics) unfit to continue will be withdrawn from the race. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.
• All runners must have motorised back up consisting of at least two people, one whom must be fit enough to accompany you during the last two stages of the race as required.
• Back-up teams must meet their competitors at each checkpoint.
• Back-up teams must be prepared to look for you if you do not arrive at a checkpoint.
• Every team memember needs to have as good a knowledge of the route as the runner.
• You must log in with the Marshalls at each checkpoint.
• It is the responsibility of your support team to ensure your safety between checkpoints.
• Every team memeber must log in and log out with the Marshalls at each checkpoint.
• You must notify a race marshall at the first instance if you decide to retire from the race. Once you retire from the race your race number must be surrendered and you will not be allowed to continue.
• In bad weather all runners may have to partner up at any stage at the discretion of the Race Directors.
Equipment And Requirements
All of the things on the list below must be carried by the runner and where applicable the support team. Items which have an asterisk (*) are the mandatory items.
Clothing:
• Small Rucksack, Bumbag or Both.*
• Complete Change of Clothes.
• Second Pair of Running Footwear.
• Hat and Gloves.*
• Waterproof Jacket.*
• Reflective Bib.*
Misc:
• Minimum of 1 litre water/sports drink to be carried.*
• Headtorch/Torch.*
• Spare Batteries.*
• Cleveland Way Map or OS Maps (to be carried by support crew also).*
• Whistle.*
• Bladder/Bottles.*
• First Aid Kit.
• Survival Bag.*
• Blister Repair Kit.
• Toilet Roll.
• Emergency food supply (chocalate/energy bar).*
• Isotonic/Sodium replacement supplement e.g Isotonic Powder, Buffers, Gels etc.*
Nutrition:
Food and drink is a highly individual area and so we advise you to undertake some prior testing and bring plenty of what food and drink that suits you.
Accommodation
For those who have not be able to find accommadation overnight there are some places here which may be able to offer you a place to rest.
